Baby Shower

I hosted a baby shower for my sister Alice on Saturday. We decided to do it as a tea party with fine china, cupcakes, cucumber sandwiches and champagne. We had it here, at our new house, and 25 ladies came to share the evening with us. It was all so lovely and we had a great time.

We mostly just chatted, drank tea and nibbled on delicacies, but we did play a few funny games. One was a baby bottle drinking competition where Bonnie (our cousin) bit the end off her bottle and sculled her champagne... what a naughty baby!
We also got two of the girls to see how quickly they could dress a baby doll, complete with a cloth nappy and bonds wonder suit. Those press studs were a bit tricky to line up!

Charlotte stayed up to join in the party and had lots of exciting stories to tell the boys the next morning. They woke us up at 6:30 am asking us to fill the baby bottles with water so they could have a bottle drinking competion!

The food was all so yummy! We had butterfly cakes, cream puffs, cucumber sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, little homemade sausage rolls and heaps of other cakes and little sandwiches. We are still eating little cakes today... yum!

  5. Hi Ruth, thanks for visiting my Oz blog. I could have been in Raffles again looking at your lovely spread for the baby shower. It is nice to get all friends together and your daughter must have felt very grown up being able to attend. How did you keep the boys from gatecrashing? x
