Activity Tray

I love this idea of setting up an activity tray for the kids, to encourage them to be creative and sit up at the table and colour in and make things without constantly asking for things.

I am still working on mine, but so far it includes twist-up crayons, textas, scissors, glitter glue and sticky tape.

Now I can just put the tray in the middle of the kitchen table with some paper and colouring books and the kids should be happy for a while.

I have it ready for when the little kids wake up from their afternoon sleep. The lollies are added incentive for them to sit up and colour! Mwa ha ha!!

Charlotte's birthday is coming up soon, and she wants to have a Princess Tea Party. She loves the look of our new activity tray (I think it's just the M&M's) and she wants to have a tray like this for all the princesses to do some colouring after their tea party.

We have just been planning the party and she is having over 4 other little girls and here is her list of what she wants to do:
  • Dress up as Princesses
  • Have a tea party
  • Eat party food
  • Play musical bobs
  • Pin the tiara on the princess
  • Have a colouring competition.
I think that sounds pretty doable...

  1. Looks like a great activity station - it is great for them to have all their supplies on hand! The princess party sounds really fun - especially pin the tiara on the princess! I did a party on that theme for my daughter when she was about 4 and we made our own tiara's by gluing jewels onto a tiara card shape, and making matching wands.

  2. What an easy child to please you have! That party sounds like a dream.
I also have a craft table for the boys. They have those foam letters and numbers that you get in the tubs for a couple of dollars, glue, pencils and crayons, water paints and some pictures I cut out of junk mail (mostly fruit and veg). Somedays they sit there for hours and hours just doing crafts. It's great :)

  3. An art tray is such a great idea. Art projects are so much more managable when everything is organized. The party will be a blast. I can just imagine the 5 girls twirling around in princess heaven.

  5. Great idea Ruth! I think I'll give this a try with the kids homework ..make a homework tray :) I'll opshop for some old beakers and a tray. Certainly be a great incentive to add the lollies to get the kids to do their homework.
